This morning at 0839 hours, Lima & East Avon Fire Departments were alerted to a house fire on Rochester St. in the Village of Lima with a person trapped. Firefighters arrived to find the same, affecting a rescue of the trapped occupant, and quickly extinguished the fire. Additional assistance was provided by Honeoye Falls and Livonia Fire Departments while the Lakeville Fire Department provided coverage for the Town of Avon.
At 1521 hours, East Avon & Lima Fire Departments were alerted to a one car MVC rollover with occupants trapped on Bronson Hill Rd. in the Town of Avon. Firefighters arrived on location quickly, finding that the occupants were able to self extricate and provided patient care and assisted LCEMS.
Working smoke detectors were able to provide early detection of the fire. With daylight saving approaching this coming weekend, we always stress the importance of checking & changing your smoke detector batteries twice a year, at daylight saving time. It serves as an easy reminder and proved to make a difference today.
