Task-Oriented Air Consumption Training

Last night, EAFD members did a task-oriented air consumption training in our new MSA G1 airpacks. The goal of the drill was to familiarize with the functionality of the packs, while refreshing on skills we are expected to perform in the packs. The drill gave our interior firefighters the opportunity to train in the packs while breathing tanked air, it gave our exterior firefighters an opportunity to try the packs on, and it provided our explorers the chance to learn more about departmental operations. The group rotated through seven pre-designated stations until their tanked air reached a critically low level. They would then relax and attempt to control their breathing to extend the life of the tank while fatigued.
