This past week EAFD firefighters were alerted to 2 vehicle fires in the South Avon area of our district.
At around 11:00pm on July 4, we responded to a vehicle fire on Nations Rd at Fowlerville Rd. 2702 arrived and found a vehicle that had been abandoned and on fire. On Saturday at 6:00am, members were again alerted for a vehicle fire, this time the vehicle was into a house with a subject injured on Avon-Geneseo Rd. A heads up passerby hooked a tow strap to the vehicle on fire and dragged it away from the home, which suffered minor fire damage.
Our 32 year old Engine, stationed on Sackett Rd, extinguished both fires and performed flawlessly. This Engine’s replacement is on order and due to be in service in mid-2025. Thank you to Lima FD for providing assistance on both fires, and especially to the good samaritan who prevented significant damage to the home on Rt. 39 until our arrival and the good samaritan that called in the abandoned vehicle on Nations Rd.
