On Sunday evening, East Avon firefighters responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Lakeville Rd. & Sutton Rd. On arrival, EAFD found multiple injuries in 2 vehicles, with a subject unconscious and trapped in a vehicle on its side. EAFD firefighters stabilized the vehicle with rescue struts and the winch off of Engine 274, and then began performing a roof roll. This allowed the patient to be removed quickly to waiting EMS crews.
Extrication of the patient was complete within 17 minutes of the arrival of Quad 276 with Engine 274 arriving shortly after and supporting the vehicle with their winch. Multiple patients were transported by ambulance with the most serious transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital. EAFD remained on scene for 5 hours keeping the road secured so LCSO could perform their investigation.
