Last night for drill, members practiced deploying the wildland packs to work on developing skills and confidence with putting out grass fires and forest fires. Using these packs will help firefighters get to areas that are needed out of reach from fire trucks.

Last week, East Avon with mutual assistance from Lima were sent to a farm on Pole Bridge Rd. in our district for a hot hay investigation. As hay bales sit in piles, sometimes they combust when exposed to open air creating a much larger problem. Interior temperatures of these bales typically are over 190 degrees. […]
On Monday night during training, EAFD and Lima Fire Department were alerted to a vehicle fire in Lima’s district. Both departments arrived on location and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Additional units assisted with traffic control while the fire was investigated and vehicle was removed from the roadway.
